The Del Ray Market is also opened on Saturdays, (all year long) and it is located between Mount Vernon and East Oxford Avenues. The King Street Station Market is open on Thursday, during the warmer months, and the West End Market welcomes pets, on Sundays. Potomac Riverboat Company

There are several different seaworthy tours offered by the Potomac Riverboat Company, and all will leave you more educated about American history. This is a fun, beautiful, and educational experience that will be interesting to everyone. In addition to viewing the spectacular monuments of Washington DC, there will be amazing sunsets, wildlife and some other natural beauty that can only be seen while you’re cruising on the river.

King Street Trolley

If traveling by land is more your speed, then jumping on the King Street trolley for free, is an environmentally friendly, easy and definitely fun alternative, to see the town of Alexandria. Riders travel from the King Street Metrorail station to the Potomac River waterfront. It is convenient to get off the trolley, as it stops often, for you to have a bite to eat, explore the many shops, and simply stroll down the historical streets. It is important to note, that drinking, eating, or smoking is not allowed on the trolley, at any time. In addition, strollers must be closed prior to entering the trolley. There are ramps available for easy wheelchair accessibility, and bike racks are also available.

Friendship Firehouse

Located on Alfred Street (between Prince and King Streets) in Alexandria, VA, this small museum is a fun stop for all ages. There is some historical firefighter equipment on the main level, and the second floor is devoted to the history of the building, which dates back to 1855. This life-like time capsule will provide a glimpse into the life of a fire fighter a few hundred years ago.
